Have access to the entire Merriam-Webster Dictionary at your fingertips at any time. Lookup definitions, view recent queries, and improve your vocabulary and learn interesting facts with the Word of the Day.

Download App

Customers with a BREW-enabled handset can download the Merriam-Webster Dictionary application by clicking the easyedge icon, followed by the easyedge shop cart. The Dictionary application is available to users on a wide variety of handsets.

Manually Launch App

Once downloaded, the Dictionary icon will appear on the easyedge menu on the device. Users can click the Dictionary logo to manually launch the application.

Quick Lookup Shortcut

While viewing the splash screen or main menu, users can input any letter to jump to the input field on the lookup page without having to select the Lookup item on the main menu.

Lookup Words

Users can enter a word in the input field and press Select/OK to begin looking up the word. They may cancel the query at any time by editing the word and pressing Select/OK to start a new query. Once the application receives a definition or error message, it will display it below the input field. Users can scroll the text by pressing up or down. To leave the screen, users can use the Back key to delete all the text in the input field, then press the Back key once more to return to the main menu.

Word of the Day

When users select the Word of the Day item from the main menu, the application will download and display the daily entry received from the server. Users can press Back to cancel the download and to return to the main menu.

View Recent Lookups

The application maintains a history of the last five successfully lookup up words and their definitions. Users select a recent query from the menu and the application displays the entry.

Pronunciation Guide

A pronunciation guide is available to help users with the phonetics of queried words.

Help

At any time, users can view the application help text by selecting the Help item from the main menu.
