INTRODUCTION TO PORTING

  • Porting is the process of transferring a phone number from one provider to another. This lets customers select the provider of their choice, without the worry of needing to change phone numbers.
  • Usually, the process of porting numbers from one wireless carrier to another can take a few hours to a few days. In most instances, you can keep using your phone number with your current provider until the porting process is fully completed.
  • Most phone numbers are eligible to be transferred. Contact us and we’ll be glad to assist you further with understanding your eligibility and options for transferring your service.

Keep your number when adding service with UScellular

  • When starting a new account with UScellular or adding a line of service to your existing account, you may port your current number when you buy online and in-store, or by contacting us.

To transfer your number(s) to UScellular, we’ll ask for the name on your account where the number is currently being used, the account number and PIN. Most carriers assign a 4- to 6-digit PIN to your account for number transfers. If you don’t know or are not sure where to find this information, check your bill or online account, or contact your current carrier. We’ll be glad to assist you with each step of transferring your phone number and service to UScellular.
